LA84s Paul Ziffren Sports Resource Center

While recently serving as the house photographer for the Southern California Olympians & Paralympians 2014 Holiday Party, I was provided a rare opportunity to photograph some of the memorabilia from past Olympic Games. The party was hosted on the grounds of the LA84 Foundation, whose, “mission is to serve youth through sport and to increase knowledge of sport and its impact on people’s lives.”

The Foundation is headquartered in the historic Eugene W. Britt House, which was built in 1910.

The largest sports research library in North America, the Paul Ziffren Sports Resource Center, was opened on-site in 1988.

Among the collection are a number of relay torches from various Olympic Games in recent history dating back to the VII Winter Games hosted by Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy in 1956.
